Graphic Novel Workshop—In-Person
In each graphic novel workshop we break down how to tell a story through sequential art. We will take inspiration from comics such as Calvin & Hobbes and stories from Marvel (Avengers, Spiderman, etc) and DC (Superman, Wonder Woman, etc). We will discuss character development, inciting incidents, story structure, pacing and so much more. Justin has written and illustrated three graphic novels and a picture book and will go over drawing and inking techniques to enhance students’ artistic abilities. Our goal is to learn about graphic novel storytelling but more importantly to have fun and gain confidence when doing it. Students are provided with drawing materials but are welcome to bring their favorite tools!
Justin has over 20 years experience in education and has written and illustrated three Graphic novels (The Secondhand Heroes Trilogy via Dial Books), and one picture book (Monster Hunter via Sky Pony Press). His studio is located in the Cataumet Arts Center where he continues his artistic adventures.
